Update : March 2019
Our phones are bursting with various games and applications. One less, some more useful – and the best Android applications (2019) will mean something different for everyone. The following ranking of the best Android applications (2019) is, as usual in such cases, the author’s choice, taking into account the most important titles on the market. Check out yourself – there are plenty of useful Android apps among these recommendations!
Nova Launcher is a free launcher released for the Android platform. Nova is characterized above all by a very high speed of operation and low usage of operating memory. In addition to basic tasks, such as displaying the desktop, managing available wallpapers, trimming them, and displaying the list of applications and widgets, the application allows a much greater personalization of the device.
Android Auto is an application that is a mobile version of Google car software. We no longer need a new car to be able to enjoy the benefits of Android Auto. All we need is a smartphone with Android version 5.0 or newer.
The application offers an interface prepared with the thought of providing convenience and quick access to functions used while driving. We get an appropriate interface with large elements. On the screen, however, we have access to navigation, music player, connections or messages. Android Auto supports such services as Google Maps, Google Play Music or Google Search.
Adobe Acrobat DC – PDF Reader
Who does not know the most popular PDF reader in the world? Adobe Reader gained extraordinary popularity on PCs, so it had to appear also for Android. The application automatically indexes the documents opened in it and remembers their location, thanks to which you can quickly open each document after opening it.
The browser also allows you to delete files, move them, copy and rename them, so it is the basic manager for PDF files. Opening documents is not the only function of the application. Thanks to integration with the Adobe cloud, it is possible to place files in it and access at any time (Adobe account required). The reader allows you to search for a specific phrase, as well as adding formatted notes, and handwritten signatures.
AirDroid is a kind of Swiss knife. A seemingly small application surprises with huge possibilities. Its basic task is to enable wireless access to the telephone, eg for the purpose of data transmission. Access is possible when we are connected to a Wi-Fi network or via a cellular network.
After confirming the connection, the user can operate many phone functions on the computer directly in the web browser. A file manager is available to send and download files, view and write SMS messages, view call history, and manage contacts. The application also allows you to take photos and record movies with your phone camera, and to create screenshots (requires root access).
AirDroid also allows you to install applications from apk files, create notes, also inform about the phone (battery status, free space). The connection can be established using the secure HTTPS protocol. After creating an account, it is also possible to track the phone remotely using a special website.
ASTRO File Manager with Clouds
ASTRO File Manager with Clouds is an advanced file manager, which is one of the most popular file management programs available in the Google Play store. Up to now, it has been downloaded over 70 million times.
The application offers what is expected of decent programs of this type. It is possible to view files from the device’s SD card, copy, move, delete, rename and basic support for archives in zip format. A big surprise is the lack of access to the root, which makes it impossible to view and modify the partition / data and / or device system contents.
AndrOpen Office is the port of the OpenOffice office suite created for Android. Like the prototype, it has really impressive capabilities and in many respects outclasses competitive solutions available on this platform. The package is constantly being expanded and updated with changes that occur in the desktop version.
After starting the application, the user has the option to open individual settings. Of course, the most important component is Writer, a word processor that similarly to the desktop equivalent is a real “harvester”: simple and advanced formatting, creating tables, lists, spelling checker or adding images are just a few of the possibilities of this application. The same applies to other components, namely: Calc, responsible for creating spreadsheets, Impress to create multimedia presentations, Draw allowing to create drawings, Math being an editor of mathematical equations and finally Base responsible for creating and editing databases. The whole allows you to read files such as OpenDocument as well as proprietary files from the Microsoft package. Of course, in the latter case it can be different with the correctness of displaying some elements. In addition, it is also possible to write in these formats, although there is no support for MS Office 2007 format (docx, xlsx, etc.).
